The Story

Cynthia Grant arrives in posh Savannah Valley, searching for purpose and a new life. When she accidentally encounters her new neighbor Ruby, the winds of change go into overdrive.

A woman of untold mystery, Ruby’s almost effortless impact on the magic of Christmas is a spectacle to behold. She opens hearts as quickly as she opens wallets in her affluent Georgia community. Ruby’s influence on wondering, wandering Cynthia leads to a whirlwind of activity that transforms not only Cynthia but everyone she touches.

From newspaper publisher Derek and devoted-sister Janice, whose secrets define and refine them, to attention-starved Paula, merry-widow Etta, and insightful Streep, a singularly focused film buff in search of the ultimate Meryl Christmas, Ruby and Cynthia deliver astonishing results.

With spirits, angels, messengers, and boundless imagination alongside mystery, whimsy, speculation, and a search for truth, Ruby tempts even the most hard-hearted naysayer to believe in believing again.

The Author

Randall Kenneth Jones is an author, keynote speaker, comic actor, and host of the popular Jones.Show podcast.

With his ever-expanding platform focused on looking for the BEST in people, Jones spends his days making a list and checking it twice, determined to find out who’s naughty and nice.

His literary journey began with his 2016 book, a celebrity interview-infused, feel-good opus entitled Show Me: Celebrities, Business Tycoons, Rock Stars, Journalists, Humanitarians, Attack Bunnies & More!

Jones spent several years running his boutique marketing agency in a haunted, pre-Civil War building in Leesburg, Virginia, before heading south to sunny Naples, Florida. Today, he is in high spirits in the company of his perennially nice family, Derek, Kevin and Maribeth, and his perpetually naughty Airedale, Alexander.

Randall Kenneth Jones Ruby Alexandra

“Ruby will make real what you need to make real, enabling you to find what you need to believe.”

– Mark Victor Hansen, #1 NYT, Chicken Soup for the Soul

“Randall Kenneth Jones understands the magic that happens when readers are free to feel—and embrace their own fairy-tale truths. What started out as visions of literary sugarplums in Randy’s head are now delightfully dancing about the printed page for all to see and enjoy. Let the laughter and discovery begin!”

– Janet Evanovich, #1 NYT Bestselling Author

“Randy’s fascinating spin on Savannah Valley evokes memories of The Golden Girls, Harry Potter, and even Peyton Place—everybody seems to be up to something—yet he stays true to his ongoing quest to look for the best in people. He shines in his ability to simultaneously embrace the laughter and tears while deftly peeling back the layers to expose the inner truth. And though Randy never preaches to the reader from a literary pulpit, Ruby has much to teach about the ageless art of being human.”

– Erin Brockovich, Author, Speaker & Environmentalist

“Randall Kenneth Jones is a master storyteller! Even though this is a tale wrapped in wizardry and illusion, it presents real-life experiences and stirs up genuine emotions. Mr. Jones keeps the reader engaged with this upbeat, whimsical mystery. I especially enjoy the constant theme of the importance of kindness – to others and to oneself. Bravo to Randall Kenneth Jones on this, his first novel!”

– Peggy Post, Director Emeritus, The Emily Post Institute

“Randy’s prose draws the reader in immediately. He has an effortless, flowing style, filled with colorful descriptions and cryptic comments about life and the people living it! (In other words, he can be very funny!) And, even though there’s no mention of any technology whatsoever, ‘Siri’ loves Ruby, and she and I both recommend it highly!”

– Susan Bennett, The Original Voice of Siri

“Randy invites us into a world of seemingly southern charm replete with intricately drawn characters. In one moment, it is hysterically funny and whimsical, and in the next, it lands a gut punch that reveals the underbelly of this colorful senior community. After reading Ruby, I would be shocked if you wouldn’t want to get on a plane and retire to Savannah Valley or at least want to share a meal with these intriguing folks. If you’re a dreamer or wishful thinker, this book is a must-read.”

– Kevin Goetz, Founder and CEO, Screen Engine/ASI
